I agree with Louise’s comment, as I am always in awe of what you can do! I couldn’t string two notes together, never mind writing lyrics, producing and performing the songs or playing an instrument. If I didn’t know better, I’d say you were adopted! 🤗
It's something we as artist need to put in the back of our mind and just do, make your music, release it and move on to the next one. Keep growing, keep getting better at it. As long as you are getting better each time then you are on the right track. When the time is right the right people will be listening to the right track for them at that particular time and they will join your journey to watch you grow👊🎶
I think a lot of people are watching (and listening), but in a very good way. There are so many people out there who can't even imagine the first thing about being creative. I think the majority of folks feel the creative act is a type of magic bestowed upon a lucky few and they are transfixed at the process, as if watching an illusionist perform. How weird is it that our inner voices are telling us such mundane or damaging things when those who are watching are wishing they had a little bit of this magic for themselves? When I see the sorcery of your music process, Dave, I am amazed and inspired and completely convinced that you've got skills (magic) that were not bestowed on me. That is what you need to think about when you are being "watched".
Thank you, Louise, for the kind words and for that very powerful reframe. Funny how different our inner voices can be. I think changing that inner voice to a more positive one would go a long way for me and, I imagine, many other artists.
Ya, there's something really courageous about pushing forward when there's so much uncertainty. I always have that feeling (and hope) that somebody will pay attention, that they might care about it as much as I do. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I think you have to give yourself more credit ;)

I love that—very empowering words. Thanks, Jono!

because everytime we do share smth it's still uncertain what happens.
but I think the nervousness before sharing shows you do smth courageous that you care about. That alone means a lot.
smth that was only yours is now out there..it's like you let your kid walk for the first time without your help.
letting go feels always scary.
and even if no one really pays much attention, a part of us believes that there is always the even tiniest possibilty that some will pay attention.

I can relate to a lot that you’ve shared here! ❤️
